Getting started

Getting started with Roz

Roz builds and manages staff rosters for your business. You add your sites (the places people work) and your staff (the people who work them), set a few rules, and Roz helps you draft, refine, and publish a schedule, guiding you the whole way.

How a roster comes together

  1. Sites — the locations you roster for, each with its own opening hours and timeslots.
  2. Staff — your team, with their roles, availability, and preferences.
  3. Rules — the limits that keep a roster legal and fair (rest between shifts, weekly hour caps, blackout dates).
  4. Drafts — a working copy of a roster you build and edit before anyone sees it.
  5. Publish — when the draft is ready, you publish it and your team gets the final schedule.

Your first three steps

  1. Add your sites. Open the Sites tab and create each location you roster for. Set its opening hours so Roz knows when shifts can run. See Managing sites.
  2. Add your staff. Open the Staff tab and add each team member, their role, and how many hours they want. See Managing staff.
  3. Build your first roster. Open Rosters, start a draft, and let Roz help you fill it in. See Building your first roster.

Where Roz fits in

Roz is built into every workspace. Ask it a question in plain English — “Who’s free on Saturday afternoon?” — and it answers from your live roster. Roz can also propose changes for you to approve. See Asking Roz anything.
